Sean S. Cunningham is an American filmmaker and producer whose place in horror history was secured when he produced and directed the original Friday the 13th in 1980. The low-budget slasher introduced audiences to Camp Crystal Lake and established the foundations of a franchise that would eventually make Jason Voorhees one of cinema’s most recognisable horror icons. Cunningham has remained closely involved with Friday the 13th and has produced numerous other films during his extensive career.
